Goal 1 - Coordinate the expansion of services to promote student mental health, emotional safety, and wellness by:
- Developing a continuum of services that includes prevention strategies, social-emotional learning and counseling interventions across all levels of K-12 education
- Fostering relationships with community organizations and agencies to provide a comprehensive system of support both within and outside of school
- Increasing capacity of elementary schools for implementing schoolwide positive behavior intervention and supports
- Investigating the development of an in-district program for students transitioning out of hospitalization settings or those experiencing a behavioral or mental health crisis
Goal 2 - Coordinate the development of full-day kindergarten programming for implementation in the 2019-2020 school year in collaboration with the Director of Elementary Education by:
- Developing a comprehensive plan for implementation including:
- Curriculum
- Personnel
- Transportation
- Facilities
- Professional Development
- Purchasing
- Communication
Goal 3 - Coordinate efforts to create and sustain an environment that values student and staff differences and promotes equity for all students by:
- Developing and beginning the implementation of a three-year cultural proficiency plan focusing on:
- Increasing the participation of students with low-incidence disabilities in inclusive settings at the secondary level in conjunction with the Director of Special Education
- Providing professional development to staff on trauma-informed instruction
Goal 4 - Make recommendations to the professional development program to advance the growth of staff and learning of students by:
- Evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the existing professional development program for staff and develop action steps for implementation in 2019-2020 in conjunction with the Continuous Professional Education Committee
- Coordinating the implementation of an instructional coaching program that provides job-embedded professional development to staff
- Increasing the use of technology resources as a platform for professional development
