Emergency Management and Safe Schools

A Message from the Office of Emergency Management and Safe Schools....

The Office of Emergency Management and Safe Schools is humbled by the important responsibility of our Department to ensure the safety and well-being of those in our care every single day. North Penn is the largest public school district in Montgomery County, comprising over 12,000 students, 2,000 staff members, and 20 individual facilities. At this scale the challenges of school safety are complex, and continually evolving.

North Penn strives to meet this challenge by embracing a thoughtful and holistic approach to school safety, one where all stakeholders are considered and where all aspects of emergency management are included. A strong school safety program is rooted in the fundamentals of a positive and connected school climate, caring staff members, engaged parents, and empowered students. North Penn is committed to building upon these principles by investing in the best safety systems, technologies, training, and personnel.

Even with our best efforts we can not do this alone, school safety must be a shared responsibility. We are fortunate to have the support of the six North Penn area municipal law enforcement agencies who are just as committed to the safety of our children, and with whom we enjoy great partnerships. And you, each and every member of our community, are our partners in safety as well. If you are concerned about something at school, or about a friend or neighbor, please tell someone. Trust your intuition and fight the urge to simply look the other way. Our security department can be reached by phone and at the email addresses listed on this page. Contact a principal, guidance counselor, or teacher at your school. Submit an anonymous tip through the Safe2Say Something system, or in an emergency always call 9-1-1 without delay. By sharing your concern you might just save someone from harm.

Please browse our page for the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions, as well as links to resources and information. I also invite you to join us for a meeting of our Safe Schools Committee. If you still have questions please feel free to reach out to us at any time.
